Almost every ricer I have worked on has been all show and no go. They think that putting a cold air and exhaust on thier car makes them the fastest thing on the road. I have easly take many civic's in my 1989 Ranger with an old semi retired 2.9L. I have only ever driven 1 Civic that have been worthy of being "riced out". It came in for an "out of provence" inspection. One was a 1986 Civic that had heavy rust, and body dents, and faded paint, it was lowered do about 3 inchs above the ground, and I looked at it and lauged, until I took it out for a test drive, and then had it up on the hoist. I then realized that it was a fully customed sleeper. The only thing that resembeled a Civic was the body. Everything in the suspention, engine, transmission, exhaust and interior was fully customed. he has somehow managed (with a little modification to the structure of the vehicle (widening it, and moving the firewall back) to be able to fit a V6 our of an Acura Legend, and had converted it to rear wheel drive. it also had some heavy hood modifications to be able to fit it. I had a fully inlaid full 2x4 squaire tube frame, and suspention out of an NSX. The thing actually scared me after I looked at it. He had basically took a car that no one wanted that didn't drive, and turned it into a $40 000 Civic sleeper. It felt like it could blow the doors off of anything. I have never seen another Civic like it, and just seeing that one where there was actually some inteligence put into it showed me that there might actually people who are into preformance and not looks.
